This was fun, if somewhat longwinded in places. But, as I said, I’m a big fan.
Confessions of a Conjuror Audiobook | Derren Brown |
As I said, I quite liked his home-spun philosophy — essentially, be nice to one another hard to argue with that. He is completely naked and shows all his awkwardness and strangeness in this great book. He is a good writer with a very interesting life, and confessioms on life.
What’s so great about this book is the way it’s constructed because it is not a conventional kind of autobiography. The weirdest thing is that at the end he thanks his editor.
Unequal parts accounts of self loathing, near obsessive compulsion confesskons walking, dealing with fame and famous people, the power and the art of conjuring misdirection, framing as well as the technical tricksproustian reveries of childhood, new age skepticism and lost of christian faith, muscle memory, the importance of kindness, ear plug preferences and pen collections.
I laughed out loud to the ending of this audiobook, and if confdssions listen to it, you should do too.
Read more Read less. Far from the usual “One glorious day, the world was immeasurably improved by my birth, little suspecting at the time that I would achieve world domination [or not] for 5 minutes [if that]”, followed by lots of baby photos of a teenage X-Factor runner up who can’t really tell I picked this up pretty much at random from the library – I’m not a big fan of autobiography and, since I don’t watch a lot of TV, I actually know DerrenBrown more from twitter waiting to see how quickly that dates this It it more overwive of his philosophy on life the the techniques he use for his triks.
But I still did a few times. Ricky Gervais Is Deadly Sirius: Explore the Home Gift Guide. Learn how Derren astounds fans with his incredible memory. It’s an unconventional autobiography centred around the memory of performing a card trick, the various details of which send Mr Brown’s mind spinning into anecdotes, eccentric or maybe normal for some for us confessions of behaviour, childhood memories, thoughts on How To Live and so much more.
But then again, so are most of us. I look forward to his latest book and the journey on which it will take me. What do you see? Now why, you may ask, would a fellow whom I’ve just touted as being so brilliant write such a ghastly book?
Learn about the pantomimes people play out to themselves to not appear weird; why you repeatedly do things you don’t actually enjoy; and how to simply enjoy life more. Maybe fundamentalists are right to worry about magic after all. No trivia or quizzes yet. The clip above demonstrates that need beautifully. He was much more interesting with his homilies and ethical asides — even though I could tell these would probably annoy other readers to the point of distraction. I didn’t want it to end-having said that-even the end made me laugh 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. Perhaps it is that soothing quality that makes him such an able hypnotist, but whatever it is, I was happy to listen to him narrate his own audiobook. Also some of the immense detail in the descriptions of scenes depicted make this incredibly unique.
More from the same Author Happy Hypnosis Memory. Loved the beginning stream of consciousness writing. Brilliant, hilarious and entirely unlike anything else you have ever read before, “Confessions of a Conjuror” is also a complete and utter joy.
It was not always the case.

As someone who listens to audio books in order to multitask, I often found myself distracted by Derren’s poetic description and rarely finishing the second task I’d taken on. There’s only so long I can read about obsessive-compulsive thoughts on pens, bathroom songs, and smooth kitchen surfaces I didn’t really mind that though. A great book I just loved it, if you are looking for a great story, from a great person, buy it immediatly.

A momentary glance, a tiny insight into how Derren thinks and his observations of human behaviour. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read.
His intelligence is amazing to me and I love the the deepness of his investigation of his own ideas and beliefs. Nevertheless, I warn you not to buy confesssions book.
