This book in my opinion was horrible. Heaart is dominated by another woman, an older woman who is bat-shit crazyabusive and controlling. This book was recommended too me by Isabel Costello following a hibiscus margarita and a conversation about female satirists.
Apr 18, Vienna Famous rated it really liked it. The breakthrough was reading Sebastian Horsley’s autobiography Dandy in the Underworld. It also downplays the stressful effects the troubled behaviour can have on people around them, including who aren’t to blame for any root causes, and the associated problems it can lead to pilgef normal life.
When Ann-Marie falls to the floor, exhausted, Stephanie thrusts a pen and paper at her, telling her to write, but no words come. But that point didn’t have to be made the way it was in publications like Wurtzel’s.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me. If you’re currently reading it, waiting for it to get better, do yourself a favor and stop now. Sorry, I’m not sorry.
Ann-Marie says she isn’t on Facebook or Twitter, and doesn’t appear to use newer alternatives. Her journey allows Pilger to lampoon a whole ho This book was recommended too me by Isabel Costello following a hibiscus margarita and a conversation about female satirists.
Really a very strange book, but it would be fabulous for a discussion with a feminist book club. The flaw is her lack of female companionship. Perhaps, though, something about meat and lack of empathy, but in that I’d be repeating another friend Quotes from Eat My Heart Out. Ezt only a hipster by virtue of the fact that she lives in London.

For a window into a generation, this was actually more than a little Okay, I totally judged the book by the cover. Anne-Marie hangs around with a lot of arty types, which means there are rich pickings for wacky goings on, some of which are funny, and some of which are tiresome. Ann-Marie is anonymous, a bag over her head, a blank slate for the older women to project onto.
Every era has its easy targets for satire. I finished this in 35 minutes.

I was put off from the start, but I stuck with it out of stubbornness and hope. Early-twenties characters smear cake and later shit on walls of their accommodation; Horsley, at around the same age, once smeared shit on himself as some kind of philosophical experiment, but it sounded as though he at least did so in private and cleaned up afterwards.
Chunks of the novel are made up of letters, passages from books and text messages. Such a waste of time and money. His semen felt like warm rain. Stephanie has her own daughter, who plans stitching up her genitals for art, to hermetically seal herself from intruders and escapees.

Maybe that’s why you’re not winning. Ignore the misleading cover illustration, this is not a tale of SM eroticism, but a hard hitting antidote to saccharine chick lit. Sep 07, Megan rated it it was ok. Surprisinglyshe believes every word he says and proceeds to have sex with the geriatric old man They arrange to meet the following day, but rather than show up for the date, Anne-Marie lurks out of sight until Vic decides to leave.
The cultural references allow Pilger to use the novel as a kind of collection box for gathering the complaints and complexities of her generation.
I bought this book in a wimp because it was half-priced, but really I should’ve looked more into it when I bought it. It didn’t make much sense to me. But two thirds of the way in I stopped caring enough to make sense of the increasing melodrama. To ask other readers questions about Eat My Heart Outplease sign up.
